Amanda Rollins was a detective with the Manhattan Special Victims Unit after being transferred from Atlanta Special Victims Unit because she was raped by her Deputy Chief.

In December 2022, she resigned from NYPD and became an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Behavior at Fordham University. After working there for over a year, the school offers her a tenure position, but she turns down the offer after becoming bored of her job and resigns on April 19, 2024. Rollins is now a sergeant in command of the Intelligence Section as of Season 26.

She has three kids including two daughters, Jesse Rollins, the father being Captain Declan Murphy; and Billie Rollins, the father being her former boyfriend Al Pollack.

On December 5, 2022, Rollins married her former partner Dominick Carisi, Jr in a courthouse. A year later, they have a son, Dominick "Nicky" Carisi III.
